Schedule:

Entries in place – Tuesday August 11, 2009 from 8:00am – Noon

Weigh-in – Tuesday August 11, 2009

Judging – Friday August 14, 2009 at 6:00pm

Feeder Calf Sale: Saturday August 15, 2009 at 6:00pm

Release time is immediately following the sale

Rules and Regulations:

1.  Exhibitors must be bona fide Augusta County 4-H/FFA members between the ages of 9 – 19 by September 30, 2008.

2.  Steer calves must be owned by exhibitor no later than June 29, 2009.

3.  Steers entered in the competition must be born after August 1, 2008.

4.  Steers must be de-horned, castrated and healed.

5.  No stags.

6.  Steers must be vaccinated and boostered for 7-way clostridial, BVD, IBR, PI3, BRSV and Pasteurella no later than July 28, 2009.

7. Steers must be de-wormed no later than August 4, 2009.

8  .Steers must be weaned for a minimum of 45 days prior to Augusta County Fair.

9.  There is no showing of the calves.Any grooming must be done prior to arriving at the Augusta County Fair if the exhibitor chooses to do so.

10.  At least one (1) of the steers must be sold at the sale on Saturday August 15, 2009.

11.  Sale of feeder steers will be done by live auction.Sale is open to all interested parties.Buyers must arrange for transporting of feeder calves to leave Augusta County Fair by   8:00pm Saturday August 15, 2009.

12. No private treaty sales of feeder calves will be allowed on premises during the Augusta County Fair.

13.  Feeder calves will be housed in their respective groups in pens under a tent next to the livestock barn.

14.  Entries for the Pen of 3 Feeder Steer Competition must be made at the Augusta County Virginia Cooperative Extension office, (540) 245-5750, by 5:00pm on June 29, 2009.

15. No entry fee.

Champion and Reserve Champion Pens will receive ribbons, cash premiums and embroidered duffel bags.
